I received a free copy of this book to review. However, the following review is my honest opinion. This book may not be suitable for younger audiences. Reader discretion is advised.

Cristina is no stranger to abuse and drugs. But now, sober and divorced, she moves to a new town with her daughter, hoping distance will give them space to start a new life. With the divorce settlement, she can afford to buy a cheap house. However, the low price tag does come with a catch: the house was home to a guy who murdered his stepdaughter. But they’re gone now, right? So what could go wrong?

It’s Samantha’s first Season. She’s being introduced to society so she can find a husband and settle down as a respectable wife. The problem is, few of her favourite activities are respectable. She’d much rather be reading a book or riding a horse than dancing with rich bigots at a ball, especially when she spots Benjamin, her late brother’s best friend. I’m sure if you tried to skewer someone when you were 10, you wouldn’t want to see them again either. I know I’d rather just melt into an embarrassed puddle. Series Review: Forget the business, this family is nuts. (Heist Society Part 3)

PerfectScoundrelsFINAL.jpg

Click here if you missed part 1 and part 2.

Our favourite thieves are in the middle of a heist, everything going smoothly, when Hale gets an important phone call and literally leaves Kat hanging (out a window, if you must ask). His grandmother Hazel, the only person in his family who gives a damn about him, passed away. His family doesn’t care about her death. Instead, they wait with bated breath as their lawyer announces that the gazillion dollar family business is to be handed down to one of the W. W. Hales. The youngest one. Series Review: We’re the Best, Good, Bad Guys (Heist Society Part 2)

Kat’s gone rogue. No, she’s not ratting her family out to Interpol. No, she hasn’t left her family for a snobby, rich kids’ boarding school. She’s become one of the good guys (sort of), leaving her family and friends behind as she goes alone to steal things back from other thieves. I received a free copy of this book to review. However, the following review is my honest opinion.

After a job interview involving drinks, a club (not the wooden bat), and a lack of personal hygiene, Dan starts a much-needed job as a programmer for Former.ly. The company basically runs an online, public diary, except your profile is hidden as long as you’re alive. You have to die to really use the site. That’s right, folks. They’re trying to capitalise on death. Continue reading “Book Review: Sweetie, we’re capitalists. What did you expect? (Former.ly by Dane Cobain)”

Series Review: Is that how family businesses work? (Heist Society Part 1)

Heist_Society_book_cover.jpg

Kat’s family are thieves. Cons. When it comes to jobs, they’re the ones you call to pull off the big stunts. Still, they’re not above petty pick-pocketing either. Thus, a goodly income. Problem is, when you’re known for stealing stuff, you tend to be the first suspect in any burglary. Continue reading “Series Review: Is that how family businesses work? (Heist Society Part 1)”

Book Review: So, What’s His Profession Anyway?

alchemist apprentice

Alfeo Zeno is of noble blood, but ended up as the obedient and not incapable apprentice of a grouch named Nostradamus. That grouch also happens to be an extremely capable doctor, astrologist, academic, clairvoyant and demon-summoning-master guy. Continue reading “Book Review: So, What’s His Profession Anyway?”
